REMINDERS & UPCOMING EVENTS
2008 SUMMER PROGRAM- Ongoing registration continues for the 2008 Summer Recreation Program for children who have completed Kindergarten thru age 14. Registrations for Gulfport residents and for non-residents currently enrolled in the School Year Child Care Program are currently being accepted. Proof of residency is required for registration. Registrations for non-residents not enrolled in the School Year Child Care Program begin May 19th 30 children max. Hours of registration for Monday–Friday are from 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. You can pick up your packet at the Rec. Tomlinson Skate Park Sticker-All skaters must purchase a new Skate Park sticker. Annual cost $5 res./$10 non-res. Consent forms are available at the Recreation Center, 5730 Shore Blvd. S., Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.–8 p.m. Skaters ages 17 and under must be accompanied by a parent and show proof of residency for registration.

PROGRAMS
School Year Child Care Program-Grades K-5, (up to age 14 on in-service days). Annual reg. $15 res/$100 non-res. Monthly rates are $133 res./$266 non-res. Extended care available for an additional cost.
Teen Night-Teens, age’s middle school to 17. Mon., Wed. & Fri. 6-9 p.m. Annual reg. $2 res/$6 non-res.
Tot-Time-Pre-registration for the 2008-2009 Tot Time Program are currently being accepted. A registration fee of $15/res and $100/non-res is required to secure a spot. The Tot Time Program is a pre-school, hands-on program for children ages 3-5. This program aims to make learning fun for children and helps prepare them for Kindergarten. Two, three and five-day monthly options are available.
CLASSES
Children’s Gymnastics-Fri., 5:30-6:15 p.m. for ages 5-12 Cost, $25/month. Call Barbara at 804-9400 for more info.
Digital Photography-Wed., 4:30-6:00 p.m. Cost is $8 per class. Call Paul at 481-5737 for more info.

Karate-Mon. & Wed., 6:30-8 p.m. (Beginners), advanced students stay until 8:30 p.m. Cost is $25/month.

Socrates Café: These monthly discussion groups were inspired by the book The Six Questions of Socrates. Author Christopher Phillips traveled the world to lead informal groups, engaging people in the manner of the ancient Greek philosopher, for whom “the questions are more important than the answers.” Thursday, May 8 at 10:00 am. and Friday, May 30 at 6:00 pm.

Scrapbookers Club for Teens & Adults: Saturday, May 10 at 1:00 pm. Bring your pictures, books and questions, and prepare to have a great time! Scrapbookers meet on the second Saturday of each month. Make beautiful pages of memories for yourself and your family. Some supplies available, but you need to furnish your own 12x12 scrapbook album. Older American’s Month Celebration-Enjoy yourself as we celebrate Older American’s Month on Wed. May 28 at 1pm. The Rockettes will entertain with song and dance. Refreshments & door prizes included. Must get free ticket in advance.
Hurricane Pizza Party-Come and enjoy all-you-can-eat pizza with salad and ice cream on Wed. May 28 at 5:30pm. Tickets ($5.00) now available. AARP Work Search/Employment-On Mon. May 19 at 1pm, seniors 55/over can learn about an AARP income earning job/training program with opportunity to learn new skills. The temporary, part-time work training assignment is usually 18 hours per week earning at least the minimum wage. Program participants must meet income criteria.

The My Time, My Story Event-You may have heard about a new prescription treatment for post-menopausal osteoporosis called Reclast. On Monday, May 12 at 2pm you will have an opportunity to learn more about it. Free refreshments and gift bags will be provided as well as an opportunity to win a free prize. You may also record and take home your own story at this event. The presenter is award-winning speaker Mary LoVerde.
