According to the Gulfport Area Chamber of Commerce President Lori Rosso, this year’s Pink Flamingo Tour of Homes may not happen.
“We’re nine weeks out,” Ms. Rosso says, “and right now it looks like it won’t happen. We’re not ready to officially say ‘it’s canceled’,” but the lack of homes from the Ward One area of the city – this year’s chosen area – makes the probability of the tour happening slim.
Ms. Rosso says that the chamber does not, at this time, have a written commitment from the Pasadena Yacht and Country Club to gain access to the homes inside the gated community.
“We have postponed it before,” Ms. Rosso says. “Between 2006 and 2007, one of those years, we didn’t do it. And that’s what we’d be doing; we’d be taking hiatus.”
The event, if it does take place, would fall on March 9. It would be the ninth year of the Pink Flamingo Tour of Homes.
The Chamber will make a final decision about the fate of this year’s tour at the Thursday (January 17) board meeting, Ms. Rosso says.
