ST. PETERSBURG – Maddie Winters, 10 ¾, ladles out her mom’s chili at the Pinellas Pioneer Settlement’s Second Annual Chili Cookoff. The chili cookoff was part of a day of old-fashioned fall festivities that included hay rides, sack races, rope making and horseshoes. Kids in attendance also had plenty of chances to make different crafts at booths hosted by girl scout groups. The Pinellas Pioneer Settlement is part of Boyd Hill Nature Preserve. Its next event, the December 10 Christmas Jamboree, will showcase trees decorated with old-fashioned decorations. For more information visit PinellasPioneerSettlement.org.
