Circus in the Park

Circus in the Park

At the 41st annual Circus McGurkis, Lynn Carol Henderson shows Kayla Bird how to make a magic wand.

Self-labeled “The People’s Fair”, Circus McGurkis gets its proper name from the Dr. Seuss book, “If I Ran the Circus”, in which the narrator promises “Why, ladies and gentlemen, youngsters and oldsters, your heads will quite likely spin right off your shouldsters!”

Locally, Circus McGurkis started as a way to peacefully protest Viet Nam and the fair continues today. The Religious Society of Friends, also known as Quakers, organizes the annual event.
