Commission Authorizes $125,250 for Blind Pass Design

Blind Pass Road will soon see a redesign.

Michael Baker, Jr., Inc. will receive $125,250 to design and engineer changes to Blind Pass. These changes include a total street redesign, drainage improvements, and “other minor utility repairs” according to Steve Hallock, Public Services Director for St. Pete Beach.

The improvements will not include a dedicated bike lane.

“To add the bike lanes would push us up into the yards,” City Manager Mike Bonfield said. The city will, however, have a “share lane” where a wider-than-normal automobile lane will be marked as one motorists must share with cyclists.

The commission authorized the $125,250 design expense unanimously.
