Fighting a Red Light? See the Gulfport Magistrate

Starting on July 1, people who wish to contest a red light violation that resulted from one of Gulfport’s three red light surveillance cameras will do so in front of Gulfport’s Special Magistrate rather than in county court.

Defendants who contest a red light camera violation in Gulfport could pay up to $408 for contested tickets. Florida law allows for additional administrative costs, at the discretion of the special magistrate, up to an additional $250 (for a maximum of $408). In addition, Gulfport will see all of the additional monies collected as opposed to seeing only a portion of it now.
