Natalie Oliver, St. Petersburg, explains that the stick in her hand will, if stuck in the ground, grow into a plumeria, or frangipani, tree. These trees produce blossoms used in making leis. Ms. Oliver sold the sticks for $1 at the St. Petersburg Garden Club’s plant sale this past weekend. Other plants for sale included papaya and mango seedlings, staghorn ferns, and succulents.
