Gulfport City Labor Litigation

Q: If a former or current employee files a lawsuit against the city, who defends it and does the city have a budget for this?

A: “No,” City Manager Jim O’Reilly says, “the city does not budget for these situations.” However, if Gulfport’s insurance company covers the type of lawsuit filed, the insurance company pays all costs associated with litigation. Currently Gulfport has no labor lawsuits not covered by the insurance company.
