Gulfport Minibus Trip Fees Could Increase

The cost of GEMS (Gulfport Extended Minibus Service) trips will go up one dollar  (for a total per-ride cost of two dollars per trip) and the registration fee will increase by $10.
“It’s still a huge bargain compared to any other transportation service, and it’s door to door,” Councilwoman Jennifer Salmon said, explaining that the Senior Center had input into the increase. The service, she pointed out, has increased service to fill the service void left by the cessation of the Gulfport Trolley.
Council approved this increase on its first reading at the Tuesday council meeting; it will vote on the increases a second and final time on September 18 council meeting.
