Gulfport Pirates Homecoming

Homecoming King and Queen, Queen Johndasha King and King Damir Sourie,

At Saturday’s last home game of the season, the Gulfport Pirates presented its inaugural homecoming court. The Gulfport Pirates play other regional football teams in Florida; this is the first year Gulfport’s had youth football leagues.

“It’s been amazing,” organizer Sophie Dutton said of the youth football and cheerleading league’s inaugural season.

Gulfport Chief of Police Rob Vincent attended the game in his Gulfport Pirates jersey. Chief Vincent had high praise for the organization.

“The crimes typically committed by kids in this age group are down,” he said just before ordering a hot dog from the concession stand. “I’m not saying it’s because of this, but it’s an interesting coincidence.”

The Pirates welcome girls and boys of all ages.
