The police command staff selects one person “who has contributed the most toward the police department” according to Police Chief Rob Vincent. This year, Officer Jennifer Crowson earned that honor.

Over the past year, Officer Crowson volunteered to take over the Gulfport Police Explorer post. In addition, she worked with the police volleyball team when it prepared to face disabled veterans in the Vetsports beach volleyball game.

Wounded veteran Sergeant Taylor Urruela co-presented the award to Officer Crowson, turning to face the audience.

“Officer Crowson’s dedication and selfless effort… she made the event one to remember. She exemplifies what it means to be a police officer,” he told the audience.
