The Gulfport Multipurpose Center hours are Monday - Thursday 8 a.m. - 7 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. This month’s calendar is out with valuable information. Stop by the Senior Center or download at mygulfport.us and click the Senior Center link.

The Gulfport Senior Center Pantry is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 – 3 p.m. You must be over 50 and a Gulfport resident. Pre-qualification is also needed before use of the pantry. Please bring your Gulfport Picture I.D., a utility bill and proof of income. Call 893-1231. 

Do you know someone who lives alone and could use a friendly check in call? Volunteers for the Reassurance Telephone Program call Gulfport seniors every Monday through Saturday between 7:30 - 8:30 a.m. To sign up for this program, please visit the Gulfport Senior Center and bring valid I.D. 

Special Events

Good Mourning Bereavement Support Group: Monday, 7/21 @ 9am. An educational support group series for those who have experienced the loss of a loved one. 

Day of Pampering – Tuesday, 7/22 @ 11am – 1pm. Heatherlee with Mary Kay will take the first 10 people who sign up and give them a complete makeover.

Happy Birthday Party – Friday, 7/25 (4th Friday of Every Month) @ 3pm.  A Birthday Party with cake, games, & more for everyone. Whether you are celebrating a Birthday or not, this party is for you! Provided by Dolphin’s View.

Worried About The High Cost Of Long Term Care? Afraid You Can’t Get Medicaid – Monday, 7/28 @ 2:30pm. Don’t miss out! Come hear April Hill, Elder Law Attorney, explain how to prepare for the high cost of Long Term Care with insurance, private funds, or Medicaid.

Monthly Mini Health Clinic:Thursday, 7/31 (Last Thursday of Every Month) @ 10:00 am – 12:00 pm. Blood Pressure Checks provided by Pinellas Point Nursing & Rehab Center & Vein Screenings by Premier Vein Institute.  

HBO’s “The Alzheimer’s Project” Documentary Series: Fri., 8/1 @ 10am. Take a look at the faces behind the disease and the forces leading us to a cure.

Franklin D. Roosevelt: American Royalty: Mon., 8/4 @ 3:30 pm. Eckerd College will present the life of Franklin D. Roosevelt & the ideals that made him one of the top three presidents.

Coffee Club: Tues., 8/5 (1st Tues. of Every Month) @ 10am. Coffee and Doughnuts are provided by Scott O’Berry as you discuss current events, the economy and investing.

Tips for Caregivers – Weds., 8/6 @ 1:30. Join Linda Burhans as she encourages self-care & joyful response to your role as a family caregiver.

Special Services

FREE Phones for persons with mild to severe hearing loss are available through FTRI at the Gulfport Senior Center every 3rd Tuesday of the month at 9:30 am.  You MUST call 727-399-9983 to qualify.   

Community Law Program: Legal assistance is available from the Community Law Program every 3rd Friday of the month. You must be 60 years of age or older and qualify with the program.  Call 727-582-7480 to qualify and to make the appointment.  

G.E.M.S.  Gulfport Extended Mobility Service Affordable transportation for Gulfport residents 55 and over as well as disabled under 55. $65 annual membership.  $2 per ride and your ride to the Senior Center is FREE! Go to the mall, grocery store, doctor’s appointments and more. Call 727-893-2242 for more information.

FITNESS CENTER: Annual sign up for the Fitness Center is an affordable $25 a year or $40 a couple.   

Snack Bar: Bring a friend to the Senior Center and enjoy a light breakfast for only $2.50 or lunch for only $3.50.
