Rumor has it that Jackie's on Corey (338 Corey Avenue) could soon have some pretty cool street-side seating... the city commission voted on this issue after press time, so be sure and check theGabber.com for an update. On Saturday, September 13, head to the Tradewinds Guy Harvey resort for the Rays "Watch Party"– they'll take on the Minnesota Twins at 8:10, so come early for a great seat. The next day head to Corey Avenue for its car and truck show. Gecko Season might end this weekend, but that doesn't mean Gulfport's not a hip place to visit: Mangia (2930 Beach Boulevard) will soon have Reggae Sundays and rumor has it that the Historical Society (5301 28th Avenue South) is planning a dinner under the stars in October, and the Industrial Arts Center will make a move out of the Art Village Courtyard and back into Artist's Alley (across the avenue from the current location). The new Philanthropy gift shop in the Art Village Courtyard takes over Castaways old spot. On the Gulfport Community Co-op page, one local woman has made inquiries about starting a random acts of kindness group, so watch out for a silent army looking to pay things forward...On our "still shuttered" list: The Peninsula's food and beverage side, The Village Pub building and the Beach Theatre. Rumors abound that someone wants to open a school at the Peninsula, but so far there's nothing to substantiate that.
