Q: Has the City of Gulfport tried to attract local conferences or large one-day meetings to the Casino?
A: “We market it through normal means,” City Manager Jim O’Reilly says. “We attend wedding trade shows. That seems to be where we’re getting referrals from. That’s a money-maker.”
The city cut its promotional advertising budget as property values decreased and, in turn, so did revenue.
“We had other priorities besides marketing the facility in the means that some individuals would like to see,” City Manager O’Reilly says. “When we established our priorities, we reduced promotional spending to maintain other levels of service.”
