New Sewage Lift Station

 

Gulfport city council voted to spend $40,000 to replace a pump by the sewage lift station by the marina. The pump would cost $6,000 to fix; the city will spend $40,000 to replace the pump. It will have a three-year warranty but Mr. Sopak said typically pump motors will last between 15 and 20 years.

The city will rebuild the old motor for use as a spare, which Mr. Sopak likened to a used car in that "You don't know when it's going to go" but stressed that the rebuilt pumps helped out when a pump failed.
