No Bridge Closures, But an Opening

No Bridge Closures, But an Opening

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has no plans to close the Bayway Bridge.

FDOT plans to allow eastbound traffic on the new bridge on March 25. Westbound traffic should follow in mid-April.

“Both of these dates are weather dependent,” St. Pete Beach Commissioner Jim Parent wrote Tuesday, “but if the weather holds out, there is no reason that these dates are not achievable.”
Traffic will travel in one lane only (in both directions, for a total of two lanes) but the fixed span bridge will not stop traffic for bridge openings. FDOT will then begin demolition of the old bridge so construction can begin one the final half of construction.

As always, the Gabber will post any changes here as we learn of them. You can also get e-mail updates about the Bayway construction project. E-mail and ask to receive Bayway detour information.
