ST. PETE BEACH– Pinellas County Sheriff’s deputies have kept busy since replacing the city police. At Tuesday night’s commission meeting, Deputy Joseph Gerretz gave a report to the commission. Deputies have made 270 arrests, 169 of those at night. They also issued 93 traffic tickets and 100 warnings.
Detectives have closed 12 grand theft cases, four burglaries and two cases of credit card fraud. Currently, the city has 10 inactive grand theft investigations; two investigations remain open. The city has 19 inactive burglary investigations.
Calls of note included a traffic stop that resulted in deputies seizing 243 grams of marijuana.
13 former St. Pete Beach police officers work the patrol division for the Pinellas County Sheriff Office (PCSO); eight work in the court security system as law enforcement officers; and seven support staff work throughout the PCSO organization.
