Pink Flamingo Home Tour Expands Offerings
On Saturday, November 16th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Gulfport’s annual Pink Flamingo Tour of Homes will take off from the Michael J. Yakes Recreation Center. Aided by the Gulfport Trolley and Mini Bus, hundreds of guests from near and far will be guided around a 2.5 mile loop where eight houses and five Town Shores condominiums will be open for viewing.
Now in its ninth year, the Tour will feature, for the first time, a showing of some of their finest condominiums at the 1300+ unit Town Shores complex. All five units are conveniently clustered in two buildings and each has been beautifully renovated and furnished by the owners in recent years. It will be a great chance to see how gracious condominium living can be.
Another innovation this year is a sampling of the fine food and drink featured by area restaurants and purveyors of fine wines at some of the eight homes at various times during the day. The participants are Habana Cafe, Mangia Gourmet, Simpatico Wines and Stella’s Deli.
In addition to enjoying the 13 homes, guests will enjoy the work of four local artists sprinkled throughout the Tour. The artists are Jonathan Schork, Eagle Finnegan, Jude Bagatti and Mike Williams.
The 14th stop on the Tour is a visit to one of Gulfport’s architectural treasures, the historic Gulfport Casino featuring it’s 5,000 sq. ft. oak dance floor. The Casino is in sight of the Recreation Center and an easy walk to the parking lots. At the Casino, guests will learn about the interesting history of the current building and the two that preceded it while sipping a cool libation from the cash bar.
There is still time to take advantage of discounted advance sale tickets for $15 apiece by purchasing them at the Chamber of Commerce Office, 4926 Gulfport Boulevard, Gulfport or the Beach Bazaar, 3115 Beach Boulevard, Gulfport or on-line at http://www.gulfportareachamberofcommerce.org.
