For the third year running, athletes and casual walkers alike met at the starting line in downtown Gulfport early Saturday morning. The J. West Prostate Cancer 5K Run and Walk, emerging as a Gulfport winter tradition, started at at 8 a.m. by the Casino. The race raises awareness about and money for the J. West Prostate Foundation. The Foundation focuses on “the health and well being of all men, with special emphasis on African-American men, who need additional resources” in dealing with prostate health.
