Carrie Caignet shares a sunset drink with a fellow Master Naturalist student at O'Maddy's in Gulfport. The Master Naturalist program, administered by the University of Florida's IFAS Extension Service in Largo, teaches laypersons about Florida's environment. Instructors use "science based information and interpretive techniques" so that students can share what they learn with others, according to program materials. The program focuses on "sustainability, connectivity, and biodiversity."
After a long day in class learning about Cuban tree frogs – as well as others – Gulfportian Carrie Caignet brought a fellow classmate from South Florida to see the town.
