Q: Why does the Sirata need permission to build a deck on the beach behind the property? Don't they own some of the land?
A: Because it’s past the coastal construction line, city manager Mike Bonfield explained. While the proposed deck is indeed on Sirata property, St. Pete Beach city code stipulates that before a property owner can build anything past that line, they must get a variance from the city commission.
