St. Pete Beach Hurricane Re-Entry Permits

Q: In the event of an evacuation and a hurricane causing damage on St. Pete Beach, when and how will evacuees be allowed back into their homes?

A: The fire chief will make that decision once they deem it safe for civilians to return, but once he does, residents and business owners displaying re-entry permits will get quickest access back to their homes and businesses, according to St. Pete Beach Police dispatcher David Strid.

Residents, property owners and business owners can purchase a re-entry permit for one dollar. Bring proof of residence or ownership to Molly at the second floor of the police station. The records department issues permits from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. every day except Wednesday (the office will issue permits between 8 a.m. and noon on Wednesday). The office closes for lunch for a half-hour daily noon.

People without permits will, with proper identification, will be allowed re-entry. However, Strid stresses, “it will slow down the process.”
