Q: What happens to the pensions for St. Pete Beach officers once the city moves to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO)?
A: According to City Manager Mike Bonfield, here’s what will happen with the police pensions:
1. The existing plan (as modified from our recent impasse hearings) will be maintained for those that go to the PCSO and wish to remain active in our plan.
2. Employees may remove their contributions and get out of our plan.
3. All other accrued benefits will remain in the plan and be eligible for payment as provided in the plan.
