St. Pete Beach Santa Parade?

Q: What happened to the Santa parade on St. Pete Beach this year?

A: The city opted not to hold a land parade this year. According to Recreation Director Jennifer McMahon, “the dwindling number of participants and spectators at the parade over the past few years” as well as “the amount of overtime for police, fire and public services” factored into the city’s decision.

“We reached out to some local organizations to take over the planning of the event,
she said, with no luck.

Instead, the city replaced the parade with “Park It” this coming Saturday. Santa will visit McKenney, Vina Del Mar and Hurley parks this Saturday. Santa will make his first appearance at 9:30 at McKenney Park, then move along to Vina del Mar and Hurley parks, in that order.
