Q: What is going on at the former Reef restaurant? It looks like some kind of construction is going on. It was our favorite place to eat when it was Scrumpy's and then the Reef (best liver and onions and without a doubt the best fish sammie on the beach - grilled mahi.)
A: We stopped by the flurry of construction to check out the happenings (by the way, the new owner suggests you stay behind the orange construction gate if you do the same) and here’s what we discovered:
The Reef should reopen mid-June as Rick’s Reef, so named for new owner, Richard (a beach resident for several years now). He’s leasing the building and planning to serve those mahi sandwiches as well as the liver and onions.
A quick tour of the work in progress indicates that the restaurant will have a more open feel than the Reef.
