Pinellas County residents should think about starting to prepare for hurricane season as it fast approaches on June 1st. With that in mind, The City of Gulfport will be hosting the 2009 Hurricane Seminar on Thursday, May 28, 7 p.m. at the Historic Gulfport Casino Ballroom at 5500 Shore Boulevard S. in Gulfport.
This informative seminar and large screen venue with hurricane related material is free to the public. The main guest speaker is Tom Iovino, Communications Specialist for Pinellas County. Pinellas County won the 2007, 2008 award from The National Hurricane Conference in recognition of the county’s public education efforts as the best in the nation. Tom’s dynamic presentation will inform you to be better prepared to monitor or act on an emergency situation. Vendors include: Home Depot, American Red Cross, Gulfport Community Emergency Response Team, Gulfport Community Development, Gulfport Fire Department, Bay Area Disaster Animal Response Team (DART), Whitco Insurance, Bay Area Emergency Resources and Florida Department of Financial Services.
