Tell Your Story

Do you have a story? Of course you do, and the Gulfport Historical Society wants to know what it is. Every Thursday afternoon at the Gulfport Historical Museum, Cathy Salustri will record stories about life in Gulfport from the people who live or have lived here.

She will write your story; each history will be available for anyone to read at the Gulfport Historical Museum. Some may appear, in full or in part, in the Gabber.

Please contact Cathy at to reserve your time slot; these histories are done by appointment only. If you cannot come to the museum on Thursday, she can make other arrangements.

Cathy has written for the Gabber since 2003. She has a Master’s degree specializing in Florida Studies from the University of South Florida St. Petersburg.

I lived in Gulfport, Florida for 8 months in 2012 and am again deployed to Afghanistan in a not so hospitable location. Please inform your readers that my time in Gulfport was well spent and is sadly missed. I often dream of the peace and tranquility of Gulfport, the eclectic people that reside and visit, the friendly people, the dolphines playing near the pier and all my friends at Gabby's and other establshments. Keep the spirit alive Gulfport. There is always a much more dangerous place to be. I am looking forward to moving back to Gulfport in the near future. Keep the spirit alive. Karl
