When Ward Three Councilwoman Jennifer Salmon steps down this March, one of two candidates will take her place as Gulfport's newest council member. Paul Emerson Ray and Yolanda Roman both qualified as candidates for city council.
Ms. Roman works for Alkermes, a biopharmaceutical company headquartered in Dublin; Mr. Ray works for Tropics, a software development company. (Note: an earlier online version of this article indicated Mr. Ray worked for Valpak; he listed Valpak as his primary source of income for 2012 on his statement of financial interest. Mr. Ray explained he left the company last year and started with Tropics four months ago).
Although the successful candidate will represent Ward Three, voters throughout their city will decide the election.
