Yacht Club a "Go" on Repairs

PASS-A-GRILLE – The St. Petersburg Yacht Club will soon repair or replace its five finger piers and add pilings to its north side-tie dock. St. Pete Beach city commissioners voted unanimously to allow the Pass-a-Grille club to make its improvements. The commission had to vote because the club will need a variance because of its current side yard setback.

The commission approved the repairs under the following conditions:

• The club will shield its pedestal lighting so illumination doesn’t extend past the property line

• The club will not allow any boat with a beam greater than 12 feet between the southern finger pier and adjacent property line

• The club will install some standpipes; this complies with current fire code.

The city requested the yacht club do this several years ago and “it just got lost and it never happened,” according to Community Development Director George Kinney.
